Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 medium Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Optional Spices & Enhancements

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh or dried rosemary (optional)
  • Grated Parmesan or cheddar cheese for topping (optional)
  • Cayenne pepper or chili powder for a spicy kick (optional)
  • Nutritional yeast for a vegan cheesy flavor (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Potatoes: Wash and peel the potatoes if desired, then slice them evenly about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick to ensure even cooking and perfect crispiness.
  2. Soak the Slices: Place the potato slices in cold water and soak for 15-20 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve a crispier texture during air frying.
  3. Dry and Season: Thoroughly pat the slices dry with a clean towel or paper towels. In a bowl, toss the slices with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and any optional spices you prefer to add flavor.
  4. Arrange in the Air Fryer: Lay the potato slices in a single layer inside the air fryer basket to allow even airflow for crispiness. Cook in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Air Fry to Golden Perfection: Set the air fryer temperature to 375°F (190°C) and cook the slices for 12-15 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time. Watch carefully near the end to prevent burning and to reach your desired crispiness.
  6. Serve Immediately: Remove the crispy potato slices from the air fryer basket and enjoy hot with your preferred dips or garnishes. Optionally, add grated cheese immediately after air frying for a melty topping.

Notes

  • Keep potato slices uniformly thick for even cooking results.
  • Soaking slices is essential to remove starch and improve crispiness.
  • Use only a light coating of oil to avoid greasy potatoes and maintain crunch.
  • Flip or shake the basket halfway through cooking to crisp all sides evenly.
  • Cook in batches if your air fryer basket is small to prevent overcrowding.
