Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 8 oz ground beef or sliced flank steak

Rice

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice (preferably day-old)

Vegetables

  • 1 bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup snap peas

Sauces & Oils

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 12 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Aromatics & Garnishes

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Optional: chili flakes or sriracha to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: Chop all vegetables into bite-sized pieces, mince the garlic and ginger, and slice the beef thinly if not using ground. Having everything ready ensures a smooth cooking process.
  2. Cook the Rice: If you don’t have leftover rice, cook jasmine rice according to package instructions so it’s fluffy and ready to absorb flavors.
  3. Sear the Beef: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry until browned and just cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside to keep it tender and juicy.
  4. Sauté Aromatics and Vegetables: Add a bit more oil, then toss in garlic and ginger, stirring quickly until fragrant. Follow with your veggies, stir-frying until they’re tender-crisp and vibrant.
  5. Combine and Season: Return the beef to the pan along with cooked rice. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a drizzle of sesame oil. Stir everything together thoroughly to coat each grain of rice and vegetable with the flavorful sauce.
  6. Final Touches: Turn off the heat and sprinkle chopped green onions for freshness. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or a dash of chili if you want some heat.

Notes

  • Use day-old rice to keep your stir fry lighter and prevent clumping.
  • Cook on medium-high to high heat for a good sear and crisp veggies.
  • Prep all ingredients before cooking for a smooth stir-fry process.
  • Avoid overcrowding the pan; cook in batches if needed.
  • Add sauces gradually to control the flavor intensity and avoid over-salting.
