Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 fresh cod fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley or dill, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Season the Cod Fillets: Place the cod fillets in the prepared dish. Drizzle them evenly with olive oil and fresh lemon juice. Sprinkle minced garlic, salt, and pepper over the fillets generously to enhance the flavor.
  3. Add Fresh Herbs: Scatter the chopped parsley or dill over the cod to add vibrant color and a fresh herbal aroma that complements the mild fish.
  4. Bake Until Flaky: Bake the cod in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the fish flakes easily with a fork and turns opaque white.
  5. Serve Immediately: Remove the baked cod from the oven and optionally squeeze a little extra fresh lemon on top. Serve hot for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Check fish thickness to ensure even cooking.
  • Do not overcook—remove once fish flakes easily.
  • Use the freshest cod available.
  • Season generously for the best taste.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
