Beef and Cheese French Dip Roll Ups

Beef and Cheese French Dip Roll Ups are warm, comforting roll-ups filled with tender roast beef, melty cheese, and served with a rich, savory beef broth dipping sauce. Ready in under 30 minutes, these versatile roll ups make a delicious appetizer, snack, or main course with a perfect balance of gooey cheese, juicy beef, and flavorful broth.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Thinly sliced roast beef (about 6-8 ounces)
  • Swiss or provolone cheese slices (4-6 slices)
  • Flour tortillas or wraps (4 large)

Dipping Broth

  • Beef broth (1 cup)
  • Butter (2 tablespoons)
  • Garlic powder (1/4 teaspoon)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dipping Broth: In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of beef broth, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Warm gently over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the butter melts and the mixture becomes fragrant. Keep the broth warm while assembling the roll ups.
  2. Assemble the Roll Ups: Lay out the flour tortillas on a clean surface. Evenly layer slices of thin roast beef and cheese on each tortilla, spreading them generously but evenly to allow for easy rolling.
  3. Roll and Secure: Carefully roll each tortilla tightly around the filling. If necessary, secure the rolls with toothpicks or wrap them snugly in parchment paper to help them keep their shape during heating.
  4. Heat the Roll Ups: Warm the roll ups until the cheese melts and the exterior gets a light golden color. This can be done in a skillet over medium heat for 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally, or baked in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
  5. Serve with Dipping Broth: Arrange the warm roll ups on a plate alongside small bowls of the hot beef broth for dipping. Encourage guests to dip each bite to enjoy the broth-soaked deliciousness.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced beef to make rolling easier and prevent tearing the tortilla.
  • Do not overfill the roll ups to avoid spillage and to make rolling easier.
  • Adding a quick sear in the skillet adds a nice crunchy texture and helps seal the roll ups.
  • Heat the dipping broth just before serving to keep it warm and flavorful.
  • Serve immediately for the best experience with melted cheese and tender textures.
