Filling Ingredients
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
Chocolate Coating
- 2 cups chocolate chips (semisweet or dark)
- 1–2 tablespoons vegetable oil or shortening
- Prepare the Peanut Butter Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, and graham cracker crumbs. Stir until well incorporated and the mixture forms a thick, spreadable dough-like consistency.
- Press Filling into Pan: Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper or foil for easy removal. Press the peanut butter mixture evenly into the pan, smoothing the top to create an even base layer.
- Melt the Chocolate Coating: In a microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler, melt the chocolate chips with a little vegetable oil or shortening. Stir frequently until smooth and glossy.
- Pour Chocolate Over Filling: Evenly pour the melted chocolate over the peanut butter base. Use a spatula to gently spread it, covering the surface with a thin, shiny layer of chocolate.
- Chill until Firm: Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until the chocolate hardens and the bars hold their shape. Use the parchment or foil to lift the bars out, then cut into squares.
Notes
- Use room temperature softened butter and peanut butter for smoother mixing.
- Allow enough refrigeration time to get clean cuts and prevent melting.
- Add oil to melted chocolate for a silky, glossy finish.
- Line your pan with parchment or foil to make removal easier.
- Cut bars with a warm knife (run under hot water and dry) for clean edges.
