Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, slightly warmed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Glaze Ingredients

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Warm the milk slightly and dissolve the yeast with 1 teaspoon of sugar, letting it foam for 5-10 minutes. In a large bowl, mix the flour, remaining sugar, salt, melted butter, and eggs. Add the yeast mixture and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours.
  2. Make the Filling: While the dough rises, combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl to create a rich, spreadable mixture.
  3. Roll and Fill the Dough: Once risen, roll the dough out into a large rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the cinnamon-sugar butter evenly over the dough, covering every inch. Roll it tightly into a log and slice into equal sections.
  4. Second Rise: Arrange the slices in a greased baking dish, leaving space between them. Cover and let rise again until puffy and nearly doubled in size, about 30-45 minutes.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant. Let cool slightly before glazing.
  6. Add the Glaze: Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth. Spread generously over the warm cinnamon rolls so it melts into every crevice.

Notes

  • Use slightly warmed milk and eggs to help activate the yeast and improve dough rise.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic but avoid over-kneading for tender rolls.
  • Measure flour carefully to prevent dry dough; use a kitchen scale or scoop gently.
  • Bake until golden brown but avoid over-baking to keep rolls soft and moist.
  • Apply glaze immediately after baking for best melting and flavor.
