Ingredients

Scale

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean or regular)
  • 6 bacon strips, cooked until crispy and chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cheese

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese blend (mozzarella and cheddar)

Dough & Others

  • 1 package pizza dough or bread dough (enough to roll out to 12 x 8 inches)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for sautéing and brushing dough)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbly. Drain excess fat. Add finely chopped onions and garlic, sauté until fragrant and translucent. Stir in tomato sauce and Italian seasoning, simmer until thickened. Mix in crispy bacon bits and remove from heat.
  2. Roll out the dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza or bread dough into a roughly 12 by 8-inch rectangle. Ensure the dough is thick enough to hold filling but thin enough to bake evenly.
  3. Assemble the bread: Spread an even layer of the beef and bacon filling across the center of the dough, leaving about 2 inches of space on all sides. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the filling. Fold the longer edges of dough inward, then roll from one short end to the other to seal the filling inside. Pinch seams tightly to prevent leakage during baking.
  4. Bake to perfection: Transfer the rolled dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the outside with olive oil for a golden crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
  5. Cool and slice: Let the bread cool for at least 10 minutes to allow the filling to settle, resulting in cleaner slices packed with flavor.

Notes

  • Pre-cook filling ingredients to avoid raw bites inside the bread.
  • Do not overfill the dough to prevent tearing or leaking.
  • Seal edges well by pinching and folding to contain the filling.
  • Brush with olive oil or egg wash for a beautiful golden crust.
  • Allow the bread to rest after baking for better sliceability and flavor melding.
