Ingredients

Scale

Chocolate Layers

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (high-quality)
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil or coconut oil

Topping

  • 34 candy canes, crushed finely
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace and Ingredients: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easy. Measure out your chocolate and crush candy canes finely for sprinkling later.
  2. Melt the Dark Chocolate: Using a microwave-safe bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. Add a teaspoon of vegetable or coconut oil to give it a glossy finish and easier spreading.
  3. Spread the Dark Chocolate: Pour the melted dark chocolate onto your prepared sheet and use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon to spread it evenly into a thin layer. Chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes until firm but not completely set.
  4. Melt the White Chocolate: In a clean bowl, melt the white chocolate chips the same way, stirring frequently. Add a small amount of oil for consistency and smooth texture.
  5. Add the White Chocolate Layer and Peppermint: Pour the melted white chocolate over the chilled dark chocolate layer and gently spread to cover. Immediately sprinkle crushed candy canes evenly across the white chocolate.
  6. Chill and Break Into Pieces: Return the sheet to the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes, or until fully set. Once hardened, break the bark into irregular pieces using your hands or a knife.

Notes

  • Use quality chocolate for a richer flavor.
  • Chill between layers for distinct separation.
  • Crush candy canes finely for even mint distribution.
  • Avoid moisture near chocolate to prevent seizing.
  • Experiment with layer thickness for preferred texture.
