Ingredients

Scale

Eggs

  • 6 fresh eggs

Pili Pili Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons Pili Pili sauce or chili paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Optional Garnishes

  • Chopped fresh cilantro or parsley

Instructions

  1. Boil the Eggs: Place your eggs in a pot and cover them with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 9 to 12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs. Remove the eggs and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to cool, which helps with peeling.
  2. Prepare the Pili Pili Sauce: Heat olive oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant but not browned. Stir in Pili Pili sauce, lemon or lime juice, and salt. Let the mixture simmer gently for a few minutes to combine and thicken slightly.
  3. Peel and Slice the Eggs: Once cooled, peel the eggs carefully and slice them into halves or quarters according to your preference.
  4. Combine Eggs and Sauce: Gently toss the sliced eggs in the warm Pili Pili sauce, ensuring each piece is evenly coated for maximum flavor.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley over the eggs for a fresh burst of color and flavor. Serve immediately for the best taste.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs to prevent cracking during boiling.
  • Do not boil eggs for more than 12 minutes to avoid overcooking and maintain creamy yolks.
  • Fresh garlic is recommended over powdered for a richer and more aromatic sauce.
  • Toast the sauce gently to develop deeper flavors but avoid burning the garlic.
  • Adjust the heat level gradually by adding Pili Pili sauce to suit your spice preference.
