Ingredients

Scale

Fresh Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 cup artichoke hearts, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large round bread loaf (sourdough or crusty bread preferred)

Dairy & Cheese

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread Bowl: Slice the top off your round loaf of bread and carefully hollow out the inside, leaving a thick enough crust to hold the filling without leaking. Set aside both the inside bread pieces and the top for later use.
  2. Cook the Spinach Mixture: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté fresh spinach with minced garlic until wilted and fragrant. Drain any excess liquid to avoid a soggy filling.
  3. Mix the Filling: In a large bowl, combine the sautéed spinach, chopped artichoke hearts, cream cheese, sour cream, shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning until smooth and well incorporated.
  4. Fill and Bake: Pour the spinach and artichoke mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl. Place the bread top back on or cover with foil to prevent burning, then bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 25-30 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from oven, let it cool slightly, then serve warm with the torn bread pieces or your favorite dippers.

Notes

  • Drain the spinach well to prevent sogginess.
  • Use high-quality cheese for better flavor and meltability.
  • Do not overfill the bread bowl to avoid spills during baking.
  • Pre-toast the hollowed bread to help keep it crisp longer.
  • Serve immediately for best gooey and warm texture.
