Tiramisu Cups

These Tiramisu Cups are rich, creamy, and elegant single-serving desserts that combine velvety mascarpone, espresso-soaked ladyfingers, and a dusting of cocoa powder. Perfect for quick dessert fixes or charming treats for guests, they deliver traditional tiramisu flavors in a simple no-bake preparation ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Mascarpone cheese – 8 oz (room temperature)
  • Ladyfinger biscuits – 20 pieces
  • Espresso or strong coffee – 1 cup, cooled
  • Cocoa powder – 2 tbsp, for dusting
  • Sugar – 1/2 cup
  • Egg yolks – 3 large (or 1 cup whipped cream as egg-free alternative)
  • Optional liqueur (Marsala, coffee liqueur, vanilla extract, or amaretto) – 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coffee Soak: Brew a strong espresso or coffee and allow it to cool. Optionally mix in a splash of your preferred liqueur or vanilla extract for extra flavor. This soak will give the ladyfingers their signature taste and tenderness.
  2. Whip the Filling: Beat together room temperature mascarpone cheese, sugar, and egg yolks (or whipped cream for egg-free) until smooth and creamy. This mixture forms the luscious heart of your tiramisu cups, delivering a rich yet airy texture.
  3. Dip the Ladyfingers: Quickly dunk each ladyfinger in the cooled coffee soak—do not soak too long to avoid sogginess. Arrange them in the bottom of each cup as the first layer.
  4. Layer the Cups: Spread a generous dollop of mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of dipped biscuits and mascarpone until the cup is filled to your liking, finishing with a mascarpone layer on top.
  5. Chill and Garnish: Refrigerate the assembled cups for at least 2 hours to meld flavors and firm up the texture. Just before serving, dust with cocoa powder and add optional chocolate shavings or fresh berries as garnishes.

Notes

  • Use room temperature mascarpone for smooth blending and to avoid lumps in your filling.
  • Don’t oversoak ladyfingers; a quick dip preserves their texture and prevents watery cups.
  • Chill the cups well for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight to enhance flavors and improve texture.
  • Freshly sift cocoa powder before dusting for a clean, clump-free finish.
  • You can prepare tiramisu cups a day ahead for best flavors.
