Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 1 lb fresh or frozen peeled and deveined shrimp

Pasta

  • 8 oz fettuccine or linguine pasta

Seasonings and Aromatics

  • 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning (paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, etc.)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Liquids and Fats

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Cheese and Garnish

  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine or linguine until al dente according to package directions. Drain and toss with a little olive oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  2. Season and Cook the Shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry and sprinkle evenly with the Cajun seasoning. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the shrimp until pink and cooked through, about 2 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the Creamy Sauce: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in heavy cream and stir, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Let simmer gently for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Combine Pasta, Shrimp, and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and add the cooked pasta. Toss until the pasta is evenly coated with the creamy, spicy sauce. Stir in freshly grated Parmesan cheese and a squeeze of lemon juice to brighten the flavors.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for color and fresh aroma. Serve immediately while warm and enjoy your flavorful Cajun Shrimp Pasta!

Notes

  • Use fresh or properly thawed shrimp for best texture and flavor.
  • Avoid overcooking shrimp; remove as soon as it turns pink to prevent rubbery texture.
  • Taste sauce before adding shrimp back; adjust seasoning gradually for preferred spice level.
  • Reserve some pasta cooking water to loosen sauce if needed.
  • Grate Parmesan cheese fresh for better melting and richer flavor than pre-grated.
