Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 500g fresh or store-bought potato gnocchi

Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Gnocchi: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add the gnocchi. Cook until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a plate and set aside.
  2. Sauté Garlic and Herbs: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely chopped garlic and fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, and chives). Cook until fragrant and slightly golden, creating a flavorful base for the cream sauce.
  3. Make the Cream Sauce: Pour the heavy cream into the skillet and bring to a gentle simmer. Allow it to thicken slightly, stirring occasionally. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is rich and smooth.
  4. Combine Gnocchi and Sauce: Gently fold the cooked gnocchi into the creamy herb sauce, making sure each piece is well coated. Season with salt, black pepper, and add lemon zest if using, for a bright, fresh finish.
  5. Serve Warm: Immediately transfer the creamy herb gnocchi to serving dishes to enjoy the silky texture and fresh flavors at their best.

Notes

  • Use fresh herbs rather than dried to enhance brightness and aroma.
  • Simmer the cream sauce just long enough to thicken to avoid separation.
  • Remove gnocchi from boiling water as soon as they float to prevent mushiness.
  • Opt for freshly grated Parmesan for better melting and flavor.
  • Adjust salt after adding Parmesan to avoid over-seasoning.
